One for you technical wizards please!
Problem is after I click onto the Go-Southcoast site and go onto 'new posts' two boxes come on the screen, one says 'Dial up Connection' , the other box, smaller but partially on top of the first box says 'error 797 connection lost', I then have to click on the Red cross top right of each box, boxes disappear but I then have to go onto the 'tools' drop down menu and unclick 'work offline' to restore the internet connection and all works okay until the next time I need 'new posts'.
All this only happens on this site!! Help please??

Are you on Broadband or dial up? Who is your ISP and what version of windows are you running. If its XP what service pack are you updated to?
This i will admit is a new fault and just want to get the info prior to getting me techy chaps onto the case. _________________ Scrappy,

See if this may help. I googled and got it from a tech forum.
Modem Error 797 (Help and Support program).
"This connection requires a modem. Try the following:
Close all other programs and try again to establish the connection. Another program might be using the modem or the communication port to which the modem is attached.
Make sure that a modem has been installed on your computer. For more information, see To install a modem.
Make sure that the modem is functioning correctly. For more information, see Troubleshooting modems."

This from the Tiscali site and actaully does refer to Broadband. Even though not Pipex the principles are going to be the same.
Error 797: The connection failed because the modem or other connecting device failed
This can be resolved by following these steps:
· Restart your computer and wait until all applications have completely loaded before trying to reconnect.
· If your problem has still not been resolved uninstall and reinstall your Broadband modem. For information on how to do this click on your modem |

Techy chaps on the case, and will get back shortly. In the meantime, I'd run a virus check on your PC.

Not strictly true, ISP's do take down the service for maintainence and upgrade, as well as general crashing of the ISP, dont forget if the BT exchange also goes wrong you'll loose your connection. My ISP goes offline for upgrades. _________________ Scrappy,

Thanks to those that have offered help and advice to overcome the internet cutting off on this site, so far no change yet, I think I'm getting used to just pressing the re-connect button!

I have slapped my techy dept hard to hurry up with a solution, but he has been busy at work prior to going to uni. He should now be on the case and hopefully will get an answer to you soon.
