I can confirm the 4 Lymington VR's are back at Lymington (Saturday 9th) with 4454 and 4455 with a certain Bournemouth airshow poster on as well. |

George, i recieved this info today -
-
4448 - KRU848W. 4454 - KRU854W. 4455 - KRU855W. 4451 - KRU851W
Staff were cleaning them out prior to use in conjunction with the four-day Bournemouth Air Festival
for which More Bus (Wilts & Dorset) are the headline sponsors.
This will be held on Bournemouth Sea Front from 28th to 31st August, and an intensive bus service will be provided which will see them in use shifting the crowds.

Southern Vectis VR 681 (FDL681V) is also keeping very busy on the Island, here pictured on Friday evening - helping carry the huge crowds to Cowes for the firework display event:

Dave,
Where were you on Friday? Reason for asking is myself and Emma had a ride on 4422 on the 152 and an enthusiast took our photo twice in the Hamworthy area. He was driving a white saloon, reg R-ADM? Was it you or someone else on the group?
What actually happened was that on Friday about 12:40pm myself and Emma were leaning over the side of the multi-storey car park in Poole - you all know the one! - when two men walked over to 4422 and started her up.
So we very quickly made our way back to the bus station and looked up the 152 timetable. As it's a 45minute return trip we got on 4422 for a ride to Rockley Park. First of all we confused the drivers by requesting day riders in Poole (we got to Poole on something yellow) then had the upper deck all to ourselves.
It's an excellent route too as you get to look at all the speedboats and when was the last time the harbour rail branch was used?
We couldn't understand why the VRT was on the 152 until we turned up at Rockley Park and of course a large number of adults & kids got on. Then it was a very noisy return trip. The kids were upset too because of course we were upstairs on the front seat. To make things worse Poole harbour bridge was raised on our return so we had to wait ten minutes for a sodding boat!
Great fun though - hopefully not my final VRT ride in service!

Hello Dave,
Yes I'm afraid that the old banger is mine and it was me!I tried to get a third shot but couldn't get past the bus...it certainly seems to have plenty of go left in it. It sounded great from behind! I'll post a photo once I've got the pics out of the camera!

The Great Dorset Steam fair is also being held over the same weekend as the Bournemouth Airshow. I was told by a Damory driver last week that the Damory VRs are being checked over in advance of Park and Ride services from Ringwood to the steam fair at Tarrant Hinton via Verwood and Three Legged Cross. The website for the show doesn't mention a park and ride service but does list "coach" services which are being operated by Damory Coaches. If these are VR operated and the news about VRs at the Bournemouth Airshow is correct it could well be worth a visit back down south for possibly the GSC VRs last stand!! Would be grateful for any information to confirm.
Ta,

The GDRF website:

States:
Bus or train
The two local train stations to The Great Dorset Steam Fair are Poole in Dorset or Salisbury train station in Wiltshire.
By Bus
Wilts and Dorset Services are
Poole to Blandford X8
Bournemouth to Blandford M1 or M2 then change for X8 at Poole
Weymouth to Tarrant Hinton 184
Salisbury to Tarrant Hinton 184
Dorchester to Tarrant Hinton 184
Unfortunately we have been let down at the last minute with the other bus routes we had arranged.
This would tend to suggest that there will be no park and ride service.

Thats a bit of a shame...perhaps the Damory VRs will be on the "More" Bournemouth Airshow park and ride instead! Can anyone in the know shed any more light on whats happening? If you did decide to use public transport to the GDSF its a flipping long walk from Blandford if you miss the 184! _________________ Dave Sanders |

Thanks Matt read it just after I'd posted my message! Think I probably will still make the journey down from Brum on the Saturday. Southampton FC are at home so that usually produces at least one Damory VR and then down to Bournemouth for the others! Just wonder if route 12 open toppers will be running?
